I am Co-Founder of Insider and the Africa Expert Network (AXN). In my role at Insider, I work with global entrepreneurs to generate PR and – using proprietary mobile built technology – connect them with investors, media and influencers across the U.S. and Europe.

At AXN, I have helped build Africa’s leading information brokerage and expert connection service. The platform provides interested investors and global corporates with a proprietary network of over 500 marketplace, civic and public sector experts. By combining this insight with real-time market data, the company optimizes investment decision making and market entry strategies, while accelerating profitable and risk mitigated deal making.

I am former Managing Director of the Whitaker Group, an Africa-focused strategy and investment advisory firm that has helped facilitate over $2 billion in investment and capital flows to Africa.

Today, I consult extensively in 20+ African markets (including Ghana, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and South Africa) and spend much of my time engaging with senior African policy makers and Fortune 500 companies. In this, I design and implement successful investment and market entry strategies and work in close partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and their Africa Business Center. This work connects to my fundamental, personal mission of bridging the reality of the emerging world's incredible transformation and the capital and profit potential in store for those countries and companies ready to bi-laterally engage.

For the past ten years, I have led CEO-level delegations to African countries and coordinated presidential visits to the United States.

I am a Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council and Advisor to the Wharton Social Impact Initiative. As well, I speak and write regularly on African business issues in mainstream media outlets.

Regularly, I speak and share perspective for the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, National Public Radio, Al Jazeera, Bloomberg Radio, CNBC, CCTV, Africa24, and VoiceAmerica Business. As well, I frequently contribute to the Financial Times and Newsweek.

Likewise, I am a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a board member of Invest Africa USA and Young Leader at the Milken Institute.

I co-authored the award-winning book The Next Africa (Macmillan, 2015), which AOL-founder Steve Case credits as providing a paradigm shifting explanation of why "Africa is an opportunity to seize" and is officially, "open for business."

I earned my MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a MA from Georgetown University.
